History Residential Trip

Dear parent,

Please find attached important details regarding the History Residential to London 8th-10th February 2023.

This presentation has essential safety and behavioural expectations. The Kit List contains what to/not to bring and the itinerary.

Please check that appropriate clothing has been packed (no crop tops, overly ripped jeans, or shorts) and that pupils have warm layers.
We will do a lot of walking and it will be cold.

Please make sure your child’s medical details are correct and up-to date and we are made aware of any changes, including mental health concerns.

On the day of the trip, it is essential that medication for any listed conditions is handed in. Including inhalers if asthma is listed (even if not used in a while), if it’s on the medical form, we have to account for it. We will not be able to bring pupils who have not got their needed medication.

We are very excited for the trip, and we hope that it will result in some amazing memories, as well as being beneficial to the academic achievements of your child in their GCSEs.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with any questions.

Email is the best form of contact at fsykes@lymmhigh.org.uk.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Sykes

Year 11 Core Mocks

After the February half term, Year 11 students will sit their second and final set of mock exams, which will focus on core subjects only (English, Maths and Science). Staff will be setting revision-specific homework to help students in their preparation for this. This is in addition to students completing their own revision in the evenings and over the break. Assemblies and form time will continue to be utilised to share best practice for revision, as well as looking at motivation and building exam resilience. ‘How to Support your Child with Reading’ evening – Monday 30th January, 5.30–6.30pm

Due to the range of media and technology available to students in the 21st Century, it is becoming harder to engage young people in reading. It is a fact, however, that reading proves the master skill of school, and developing a life-long reading habit can dramatically improve student outcomes.

On Monday 30th January, we will be running a short ‘How to Support your Child with Reading’ evening which aims to offer help and guidance for parents, and offer a better understanding of the interventions we have running in school. While this evening is intended predominantly for those parents of students taking part in reading interventions (for whom, invitations should already have been received), we would like to extend this invite to any parents who would like to know more about supporting their child’s reading skills.

If you would like to join us, please confirm your attendance here.

Ofsted Report

As you may be aware, Ofsted visited us in December 2022 for an ungraded inspection. Ordinarily, a school wouldn’t expect another visit for 4-5 years. However, the inspection team found enough evidence that the quality of education provided by Lymm High School is now outstanding. This means that they have recommended a further, graded, inspection to take place within a year or two. This was the best possible outcome available to us and we are delighted that the progress of the last few years has been recognised in this way.
