Consultation on relationship & sex education policy

As you may be aware, the Government have made changes to the legislation regarding Relationship & Sex Education (RSE) and these changes are due to come into effect shortly. As part of these updates, we have made some minor changes to our RSE Policy.

There are no substantial changes needed to our policy because it was already in line with the expectations set out in the new legislation but, as parents of students attending Lymm High School, we are offering a consultation on the proposed draft policy before it is submitted to Governors for ratification. Please click here to read the new policy.

Should you wish to make any comments, please email info@lymmhigh.org.uk by 3pm on Friday 13th November 2020.

Apprenticeship Evening, Thursday 19th November 2020, 6–6.30pm

At Lymm High School we are committed to providing our students with opportunities to raise aspirations, develop employability skills and make informed choices. As part of our CEIAG programme, and given the importance of your child’s decision making with GCSE option pathways, post-16 option choices and career pathways, we would like to invite parents and students to our online Apprenticeship Evening starting at 6pm on Thursday 19th November.

In these uncertain times it is more important than ever for young people to know the options they have before them so they can make an informed choice about their next steps. We hope that our Apprenticeship Evening will help you and your child be fully informed of the various options available to them. Dr David Armson from the National Apprenticeship Service will be letting you know all about apprenticeships and the opportunities they offer. The evening will include:

  • An overview of apprenticeships
  • Levels explained
  • Who offers apprenticeships
  • How competitive they are
  • Where to find out more

If you feel that an apprenticeship may be of interest to your child, we would encourage you to attend this online event. Please click here to register your interest for this event. A Zoom link will be sent to you on the morning of 19th November.

Progress Reports 2020-2021

We are going to be trialling sending out progress reports this year electronically via the School Gateway app and via email. Year 11 and 13 progress reports are due out after October half-term, and Year 7, 8 & 9 are due out mid-November. Year 10 are due early December, and Year 12 due mid-December. We hope this will more reliably ensure parents receive their child’s progress reports, and also ensure parents who have parental responsibility but do not live with their child are kept up-to-date with their progress in school. In order to receive your child’s progress report, please make sure you have downloaded the School Gateway app from the app store (it’s free) – if you need login details for the app because you haven’t used it before or have been locked out, please contact ithelpdesk@lymmhigh.org.uk. Please also ensure that we have the correct mobile number and email address for you – to let us know of any changes, please contact MIS@lymmhigh.org.uk. If you have any other questions, please get in touch with your child’s Head of Year.
