Covid-19 latest guidance

Dear parents and carers

I hope you are well and have been enjoying the Easter holiday. Apologies for interrupting the break, but I am writing with a quick update on the latest guidance relating to Covid-19 and what actions to take if staff or students are unwell.

You may be aware that, as of April 1st, the government published its Living with Covid strategy. This means that there is no longer a requirement for students or staff to test regularly and that the universal/free testing has now finished.

The following guidance is now in place if students or staff are unwell with Covid-19 symptoms:

  • Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can go back to school when they no longer have a high temperature, and they feel well enough to attend.
  • Adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and they no longer have a high temperature.
  • In the event that a Covid-19 test is taken, adults with a positive test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice is 3 days.
  • There is no longer a requirement for students or staff to return a negative test before returning to school once they have remained at home for the recommended period of time.

Remote learning via our ‘window into lessons’ will remain available for confirmed Covid cases for the time being, so please make sure you let us know if this is the case for your child.

As ever, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns or questions. Otherwise, enjoy the rest of the day and I look forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow.

Kind regards

Gwyn Williams

Theatre trip cancelled – Tuesday 29th March

Today all Year 7 L forms were due to go to the theatre to see the performance of the House with Chicken Legs. Unfortunately, this has been cancelled by the theatre due to technical issues. We are very disappointed and will do our best to ensure the students get another opportunity to see this performance next term. We will communicate alternative dates as soon as these are confirmed.

Students will be told at breaktime (10.45-11.15) that they won’t be going today. Normal lessons will commence. Please don’t worry that your child may not have the correct equipment needed for lessons.

We ask that you arrange normal collection at the end of the school day as usual. We will allow the students to use their mobile phones at breaktime should you wish to communicate information to them about collection from school.

We do apologise on behalf of the theatre. As far as we know tomorrow’s performance will still be going ahead.

English Theatre Trip Reminders

Parents of Year 7
Theatre Trip Reminders:
  • All students will need a packed lunch – this will be eaten at breaktime.
  • Students must wear their full school uniform and school shoes.
  • School bags are not required as we are leaving school straight after breaktime.
  • Students may bring money to purchase snacks during the interval.
We are leaving school on coaches at approximately 11.45am. The performance finishes at 3.30pm, we therefore expect to return for approximately 4.30. Any delays will be communicated by the school.
Please reiterate to children that they represent Lymm High School whilst outside of school and on a school trip. We expect impeccable behaviour from all of our students throughout the trip.
Thank you,
Miss Penketh

House with the Chicken Legs Theatre Trip

Please be aware that the deadline for payments is now Friday 11th March due to the technical difficulties experienced after Half Term. Home Theatre have reserved our seats, but payment is required next week. This does not apply to PP students, those places have been reserved and will be funded by the school we do, however, require a permission slip. Could you please ensure your payment has been received by Parent Pay and do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any issues with the system.
The English Faculty are very excited that so many Year 7 students are joining us on their first trip with Lymm High.
Miss Penketh.

Parent Survey – March 2022

Dear Parent/Carer

Please could we ask that you spend 5 minutes completing this Parent Survey. This is the first survey of this kind since the COVID pandemic and therefore we are particularly keen to receive as many responses as we can.

Thank you in anticipation for your valuable feedback. I will provide a response to the key messages we receive in due course.

Kind regards

Gwyn Williams
