Academic success
Although statistically, girls often out perform boys in STEM subjects, the industry does have a stereotype of being more suitable for boys – a gap we want to help bridge at Lymm High School.
Out of our students who applied and were successful with STEM subjects at university, 43% were girls, which is higher than the UK average. Those Sixth Formers have gone on to study a wide range of subjects including Civil Engineering; Medicine; Zoology; Mathematics; Finance and Biological sciences.
Through the STEM club run in school alongside other events we hope to challenge girls at Lymm High to continue with these subjects, which are so essential in many brilliant careers. Our aim is to continually improve the percentages of girls within those subjects. Currently, in 2022, we have:

How else to get involved: outside of the curriculum
Previously, Lymm High held its first networking event to mark International Women in Engineering Day which you can find out about HERE. Although COVID-19 has restricted some opportunities, moving forward we hope to ensure provision is virtual, so watch this space for events and opportunities to get involved in.
